Atlas / Tesco ready for ASN rollout

Tesco are continually reviewing the supply chain efficiency to ensure delivery improvements that everyone can benefit and share. Ultimately the benefit to Tesco customers will be by providing better availability, and to make efficiencies which lower the cost base.

Benefits of moving to Electronic Notification

This project provides benefits for all parties. These are detailed below:

  • Eliminating order discrepancies
We will be resolving all variances between the Tesco Purchase order and Advanced Shipment Notification before the vehicle arrives in depot
  • Reduction in claims cost - Estimated at a minimum of 50%
Each Advanced Shipment Notification will provide Load specific delivery detail and we will be receiving product against the ASN instead of Tesco Purchase Order
We will be scanning each pallet into depot
We will issue a ‘checked’ proof of delivery 24hours after the delivery has been scanned into depot. This is to ensure that we provide suppliers with one accurate Electronic Proof of Delivery document
  • Reduction in administration duties
    Claims investigations will significantly reduce
Electronic Proof of Delivery can be downloaded in multiple formats such as excel, word, xml etc to suppliers own warehouse management systems
Proof of deliveries will not require chasing from drivers
Paperwork will not require collating and filing
  • Full pallet traceability
Full pallet traceability will be provided for all pallets delivered into depot by the scanning of the SSCC Label and details provided on the Electronic Proof of Delivery and Electronic Goods in Note
Our Primary Consolidators will be moving to scanning of pallets on receipt and despatch from the Hub
  • Earlier notification of Delivery On time
Delivery time will be detailed on both the Electronic Proof of Delivery and Electronic Goods in Note.  The Electronic Goods in Note will be sent back to hauliers and direct suppliers within 24hours of the delivery scanned into depot
  • Improved Turnaround time
Our depots will be aware of what products are being delivered on each vehicle before it arrives in depot, therefore enabling a more efficient allocation of bays and resource
  • Enabling more efficient finance processes
Less invoices will be held up in query due to a reduction in disputed claims

The Key Principles Tesco are working to:

  • One Advanced Shipment Notification per depot for collection vehicles into Consolidator
  • One Advanced Shipment Notification per vehicle for each delivery into Tesco Depot
  • All Suppliers and Consolidators send accurate Advanced Shipment Notification/s upon despatch of delivery/collection vehicle
  • Advanced Shipment Notification arrives at depot before the vehicle arrives
  • SSCC labels present on every pallet delivered into Tesco
  • Consolidators scan pallets on receipt and despatch from Hub
  • Tesco Depots scan pallets upon receipt
  • Electronic Goods In Note sent to all Consolidators, Hauliers and Direct Suppliers
  • Electronic Proof Of Delivery sent to all Suppliers detailing order discrepancies
  • No Paperwork
  • Maintain Delivery On time
  • Drop and Drive claims replaced with Electronic Proof of delivery detailing order discrepancies
